We’re excited to announce the release of FISTULA — A Film to Promote Better Maternal Care Globally, a short film that shares the compelling story of two women in Rural Uganda who suffered from obstetric fistula.
Rahel Nardos, a former WFF board member, served as executive producer, in collaboration with Alice Emasu and her dedicated team at Terrewode in Uganda. Our appreciation goes to the project’s funders, including the University of Minnesota, Maternal Health Fund, and Global Women’s Health Initiative. Although WFF did not provide direct funding for the film, they graciously granted its use in advancing our community’s mission to combat obstetric fistula.
In their voices, the women explain the impact that this debilitating injury had on their lives and their journey to recovery. Their story recounts the physical and emotional toll the condition can cause while showcasing the transformative impact that effective care can have on those in need of treatment. We hope you’re as inspired as we are by their story!
I’m now a free person, no longer living in stigma and isolation. I have my dignity back.
