With gift planning, you can achieve your financial and personal goals while helping support WFF’s mission.
Planned Giving
By providing a planned gift, you would strengthen our partnership and ensure our vibrancy for years to come!
Planned gifts come in a variety of forms, from simple bequests to complex trusts. Whatever your stage in life, planned giving can benefit you and your loved ones while helping us create a better life for women and girls in sub-Saharan Africa, allowing them to reach their highest potential.
Some of the most common ways to give a planned gift:
Donor-Advised Funds (DAF)
DAFs are the fastest-growing charitable giving tool in the U.S., providing an easy and tax-advantageous way to support your favorite causes. These charitable accounts empower donors to give as often as they wish to the nonprofits they care about. You can set up recurring grants to help sustain the mission of WFF.
You can help continue our mission after your lifetime by naming WFF as the beneficiary of your DAF through your fund administrator.
Please call email info@wffund.org to let us know, so we can thank you for your generosity.
Bequests
These are outright gifts left as a contribution in a legal will. They are typically given in a specific amount, or a remainder of a donor’s estate after other bequests have been paid. Learn More
Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)
If you are over age 70½, you may give a gift from your IRA as a tax-free distribution to a qualified charity. This means an amount (up to $100,000 annually) transferred from your IRA directly to a charity like WFF can count toward your required minimum distribution without being considered taxable income for you. The deduction then lowers your adjusted gross income (AGI). The distribution, also known as an IRA Charitable Rollover, is authorized by Section 408(d)(8) of the Internal Revenue Code.
As a qualified charitable IRA rollover, the gift must be transferred from a traditional IRA directly to a qualified public charity like WFF and must be completed during the applicable tax year. WFF must receive your gift by Dec. 31 for your IRA charitable distribution to qualify for that tax year.
Donating Stock
If you donate stock, your gift goes further than if you sold that stock and donated the proceeds. Donating appreciated stock lets you save on your taxes in two ways: you avoid capital gains tax on the appreciation, and you also can take a tax deduction on the value of the shares you donated. Contact the financial institution/advisor of your stock assets for more information and WFF at info@wffund.org to help facilitate the transfer.
Donating Retirement Assets
Donating retirement assets to charity is an easy, tax-efficient way to fund your legacy. A retirement plan can be a simple way to include a charity, like Worldwide Fistula Fund, in your estate plan. Most people do not use 100% of their retirement assets during their lifetime, and unused assets can be designated as a gift to the Worldwide Fistula Fund.
There can be both income and estate tax benefits when it comes to donating retirement assets directly to charities. In the event of your passing, the intended charity would inherit assets from the chosen IRA. That money would not be taxed.
Many people who choose to donate their retirement assets to a charity will do so through a beneficiary designation. The beneficiary designation allows the donor to direct their assets held in an IRA, 401(k) or other retirement account to the charity of their choice upon their passing.
Legacy Gifts
Whether you designate a specific amount or a percentage of your estate, a legacy gift is a future gift that will contribute to Worldwide Fistula Fund’s mission. When you plan a legacy gift, you make an impact on women suffering with childbirth injuries by naming WFF as a beneficiary. You could do this through your will or trust.
Contact your financial advisor for more information on gifting your assets to the Worldwide Fistula Fund – now or in the future.
