itengre-ouedraogo-2024.jpgThis September, we are thrilled to welcome Dr. Itengre Ouedraogo, founder of ARENA Medical Center in Burkina Faso, for a special visit to the United States. Dr. Itengre is a longtime partner of Worldwide Fistula Fund and a global leader in maternal health. His work has transformed the lives of thousands of women affected by obstetric fistula and other childbirth injuries.

As a FIGO Certified Fistula Surgeon Trainer and Executive Secretary of ISOFS, Dr. Itengre brings unmatched expertise and compassion to his mission. After years of service at the Danja Fistula Center in Niger, he returned to Burkina Faso in 2017 to launch ARENA. In 2022, he opened the ARENA Medical Center, a 25-bed facility offering surgical care, rehabilitation, and reintegration services for survivors.

“It’s not just about doing fistula surgery,” Dr. Itengre says. “Lives are being changed. Women who have lost everything are living a completely different life and become a functioning part of their communities.”

Dr. Itengre’s visit will include events in New York City (Sept. 10), and Seattle (Sept. 12–13), culminating in our signature fundraiser:
